Chinatown
The assignment was to create a poster for the 1974 movie, Chinatown, by Roman Polanski. We were not to create a typical “Hollywood” poster but rather to explore the poster format while creating an interpretive response that portrayed repetative themes and/or motifs from the film.
My poster was focused on the fear and mystery that surrounded Chinatown. I placed an anonymous figure falling into the streets that could be taken for the protagonist, to symbolize the universal danger that Chinatown holds. The colors, elements and placement all reflect this central idea of an inescapable fear.
